Mares Tail (Horses Tail)

Has anyone managed to successfully get rid of hits invasive weed!?
We have dug down about 10 feet and filled two wheelie bins with roots, a black membrane has been put on top of the freshly dug ground and a three inch layer of the pebbles has been laid on top of the membrane. One rainy night followed by a sunny day and we are back to square one again. I have just pulled up about half a bucketful of fresh new shoots - none of which were there yesterday!

Now you know why the Victorian railway builders used it to stabilise embankments!

If you decide on the chemical control, this weed tends to shed herbicides like ducks shed water from their backs.
It may help to damage the plant, perhaps with a wire rake etc, to allow the weedkiller to be absorbed more easily.

Mares tail is an incredibly difficult weed to remove, but Kurtail gold will kill it stone dead.
