A friend has been offered work through an agency but say he needs to show them his birth certificate as proof he has a right to work here. He's been from pillar to post the past year and has no idea where it is. I know he can order another one but is there anything else he could show them that would satisfy them legally? He doesn't have driving license or any bills with his name on - all he has is a bank card as far as I'm aware
Because he was hoping to start tomorrow and has just realised he can't find the birth certificate, so is panicking now and the starting time is before their offices open
I don't know if anything else would be acceptable. At such short notice I would just turn up for work and explain I'm in the process of ordering another birth certificate - and hope for the best.
Thinking about it you've asked if anything else would be acceptable but he doesn't have anything else except a bank card. I don't see that he has another option.
jesus thank god for BC ...
hi chris !
o and thx for the URL - I now need to check any tenants I might let to have a right to erm be my tenants ....
Frankly I am amazed ladies that a paper pinko birth cert was sufficient.
It was - and then it wasnt because there apparently no central registry of copies - there is of course a registry of births .... and now there it is acceptable which kinda implies they have managed to digitise the records ...
I also notice that the document uses list A and list B in their own sense.
it normally means list A - proof of identity and list B proof of address....but not heeeeree !
I think it probably has to be a birth cert., but ask for time to order a copy (it's only a couple of weeks). I say this because my Driving Licence and Passport are both still in my maiden name. I could supply a marriage cert. to prove that the person on the voter's roll is me and HRMC are quite happy to address me using both names. In the same circs., however, it would be much easier to order and then show a birth cert.
