Car Water Usage

I bought myself a second hand motor on Weds. Nothing too flash. I know the water levels were topped up when I left the garage (the chap checked these over with me). Since then I have done 140 miles. This morning there is no blummin water left in the reservoir.

I noticed after a 60 mile run yesterday water was coming out from underneath but decided this must be the air con.

Any ideas what this is likely to be? My research indicates it could be the head gasket. I am taking it to a garage next week to have it checked, but anything I can do in the meantime (I am not taking it back to the selling garage until I know precisely what is wrong).

The long and short of it is there is something wrong and that idiot needs to fix it - I do 300 miles a week and top my car up once or twice a year!

Update:- water pump is jiggered. It is being fixed. It was meant to be fixed yesterday but I am told I have high hopes of it being back today.

For their sake, I do hope so.
