@Lynne

I said sell it, not let it go.

But I've just thought about the "unsinkable aircraft carrier" aspect. We don't have a need to control the Strait any more (Suez canal traffic etc) but the price tag for a UAC has to be steep. Fixing the national debt kind of steep.
the AB 2016 white feather award goes to.......?
'Sell' might look superficially attractive, but we have a duty to the citizens living there, and so that isn't a morally available option without their approval.
I suppose everyone voted thinking of their own interest. As Gib. did . No we don't pop into Gib. To do our shopping, if we really wanted English biscuits etc. there are numerous supermarkets here exclusively selling English products. Personally I never go as they are so expensive and Spanish alternatives are just as good. Do love the Gibraltarians though with their Chanito language.
"I suppose everyone voted thinking of their own interest."

On the contrary, many, particularly the older generation, may be here for the short term turmoil, and yet in a pine box for the new improved UK. They voted out because it was best for the nation and future descendants. Or voted in because they were convinced taking control was too scary and it would all go to Hell in a handbasket.
Fine. Then hand it over to Spain if that is their wish.
