Have You Been A Victim Of The Pfander Tunnel (Austria) Scam?
9 Answers
Driving from Bregenz - following the sign for Germany you may not notice the small motorway indication (€8.oo toll) AFTER the lane filter arrow. There is no chance to stop nor turnaround.
At the the other end of the tunnel are two fully equipped vans ready to take your money €120.oo
You have NO chance of a refund. Quite dishonest!
I have a photo but cannot attach it.

It sounds as if you did not have a vignette? In Europe you need one for Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland,
Vignettes can be purchased at border crossings and nearby petrol stations. Fines for not displaying the proper windshield sticker start at around €60. Cars without vignettes can be detected by roadside cameras.

Sounds like a couple of toll roads in Florida where suddenly the booths are unmanned and as you can't get back and don't have the coins, not notes, you either spend ages later trying to get a money order or you pay a fine via the hire company. Coming from the airport, make sure you have coins, stock up at the earlier manned booths, give them $10 bills to get change.
