Home Made Yogurt.

How long does it last?
I make yogurt (in a Lakeland yogurt maker) with full milk and a small tub of live yogurt. If say I make it on the first of the month and the date on the products is the fifth, how long can I continue eating it after the fifth?

Once the milk has been turned into Yogurt the original 'use by' date is no longer valid. The yogurt will keep only as long as fresh unpasteurized yogurt commercially produced yogurt would keep. You can eat it until it starts to taste 'off' anywhere from a few hours to a day or two, all depends on how you store it , do not freeze it but keep it in a fridge at around 4 / 5 degs C .
i use to make yogurt all the time by heating full fat milk until almost boiling with a slight milky froth/foam on top and turn off the heat, once it had cooled down a little i then added a teaspoon of natural yogurt north, east, south and west in the pan, covered it with a heavy lid and left it in the kitchen or airing cupboard until the next day where it has set beautifully, i then transferred the container as it is into the fridge and used it happily for the next 2-3 days
