Anybody remotely surprised by this huge reduction ? We have had this law in Wales for a number of years.

No I'm not remotely surprised
Good. It's not so much the nominal charge for the bags as the fact that a mention of it reminds most of us of the cost to the environment.
Good news. I think they should stop issuing them altogether. Ban the plastic bag, I say.
I'm not surprised its reduced but the amount its reduced by is astounding.
I agree tilly2 no need for them at all, except perhaps to wrap around meat and chicken ( the small plastic bags) as i don't like putting raw chicken in a reusable shopping bag even when its packaged

We had a similar huge drop in Wales, when the new law was enacted here.

Now, most of us just put a couple of those "bags for life" in the boot of the car when we go shopping. I have 3 Tesco ones, that must now be 5 years old, at least !
You don't see many people using string bags these days. Maybe they're set for a comeback

Sandy....I saw a chap with a string vest the other day !
We have 7 tesco ones

9 Aldi ones
14 Morrisons ones
2 Clas ohlson

I could go on ... we have millions of bags for life.
But it's said you only live once. Wouldn't one do?
Something to hand down to the kids, Sandy (plus I am married to Irene Cara)
Is she to bags what Mrs Marcos was to shoes?
