Next years canes are over 8' high, would it harm them to pinch out the growing tip?

Personally, I'd leave them alone. If you pinch out the tips they may start to send out suckers, which will weaken them. Usually best to leave alone with raspberries - until you yank them out!

Thanks for the links, Chris. A taller support wire is going to have to be fitted. The canes were planted as new stock 18mths ago and this year they have really took off.
