how often do you water hanging baskets for their best affect

Morning and evening but never in full sun, a small bit of plant feed every so often - you can use tomato food, its cheap and does just the same job

We do ours twice a week

I do mine morning and evening if I can but at least once a day. Pinch out the flowers when they have finished flowering too because that will encourage the plants to flower some more.

As has been suggested, at least twice daily, especially if the weather is warm to hot. There really isn't much soil in most hanging baskets and therefore, they will require more water and fertilizer. Several airports I travel to have huge hanging baskets lining the drive into the airport terminal building and these are served with automatic drip water devices which provide a little water almost constantly...

I remember one hot and sticky summers evening, Ifelt magnetized to my local pup, so I entered through the swinging doors for a swift half, as you do..Any way, no sooner had the barman pulled my pint, Ijust happened to glance out of the window and noticed it was pouring down, I could be here sometime, I thought, then I heared someone mention it was the automatic irigation system, watering the hanging baskets, just like my friend claned mentions only a bit more than a drip. At this point I decided to stay for another to celebrate modern technology. It would'nt suite everyones pocket but this pub regularly wins an awawd for its flower displays and lots of free advertising!

I managed to find some baskets (plastic) which had an internal resevoir, I backed this up by adding a pinch of water retention crystlals to the compost and this cut the watering time down by half, which in turn gave me more time to visit the watering hole! Cheers.

Hanging baskets in hot weather can be a real pain as they require constant watering. Have you tried using some of these white water retention crystals which absorb up to 20 times their weight in water? They're available in most garden centres. If you mix a very small quantity in with the compost in your baskets they will help retain moisture. Don't use too many though - they swell up like frosgspawn !
