When I was a lad the prospect of walking about with your backside hanging out of your trousers would have been mortifying. Indeed, I wore a long raincoat for much of one summer for that very reason.
In recent times I've noticed young people with the knees out of their jeans. Today I saw a girl who'd brought this to a new level. There was a cut across the back of her jeans which revealed a pair of red shorts underneath.
Certainly eye catching, but scraping the bottom of the good taste barrel?

Thsi involves displaying their underwear, so fashionable brands often have their name printed round the band so everyone can see. Girls don't usually go in for this, but having your underwear visible is no longer improper for them either (probably not at work, unless they are professional hipsters.)
Ripping or "distressing" jeans by discolouration is supposed to make them look as though you've actually been working hard in them rather than just vulgarly buying them from a shop. Which most of them have, of course.
