Since I first put up my bird feeders I have been visited by many lesser and greater spotted woodpeckers and we had the babies in the spring too. Now there are none visiting the feeder at all. Is this normal? Where are they?
Thanks DiveBuddy, I find identification really difficult. I have a large and well illustrated book near the window which helps but the more unusual birds seldom stop for long
I keep binos too. This afternoon I saw two LSWs at the feeder at the same time. I checked to make sure they weren't juvenile starlings. Other birds are returning too. My big bird book is back on the table by the window with the binoculars
