Assad turned a peaceful protest into a deadly civil war by his actions. That is fact. It's the same old story the world over: a ruthless dynasty protects itself by panicking.
We say 'nothing to do with us' and now we are having to deal with the consequences:IS, refugees, etc
I agree that forced regime change is not ideal, but for a long time the objective was not that, but 'policy' change
