Part 1, No 10, does anyone think this is an error.
"which drink is a mix of gin, lemon, soda water, sugar and a lump of ice." This is a Tom Collins I though, a "John" Collins is made using bourbon.
Also, Part 3, No 6......His TV persona is just an act. (another famous John.)

Have tried unsuccessfully to post you the origins of John Collins etc plus the difference in the names of the whisky or gin version, both here and the USA.
Must be gremlins on the line........

These were the 2 recipies I found, so still no nearer. Mind you, both sound nice !!!!!!
Tom Collins recipe
2 oz gin
1 oz lemon juice
1 tsp superfine sugar
3 oz club soda
1 maraschino cherry
1 slice orange
John Collins recipe
2 oz bourbon whiskey
1 oz lemon juice
1 tsp superfine sugar
3 oz club soda
1 maraschino cherry
1 slice orange
Whisky Collins or Tom Collins (John Collins in USA)
5-6 ice cubes...juice 1 fresh lemon...1 tablespoon sugar or sugar syrup...3 parts Whisky...1 slice fresh orange...1 maraschino cherry (optional)...soda water.
Both drinks are shaken in cocktail shaker, garnished with fruit and topped with soda..then gently stirred.
