I see this morning people are complaining about making a woman eat a piece of glass on the show...now if it was glass and she actually ate it...now that IS over the top and a dangerous thing to show!
He wasn't even the remotest "bit religious"; indeed, the show was designed to reveal how utterly non-religious he is by ridiculing the so-called 'healing' services provided by America's evangelistic - but money-grubbing - pastors. He told us right at the start that it is well known that he is an atheist.

Oh come on Quizmaster, are you telling me, that those people who had a health problem, & were flung on the floor, were in a trance?
When the camera was zooming around the audience, you could see their reactions, that it was a load of Brown-poo!
He might fool an American audience, but not the Brits!

You must have missed the start of the show where he said it was all tricks. Remember it was a recording of a stage show. The audience are expected to see the start of the show.

Brown does not claim to possess any super-natural powers, indeed his acts are often designed to expose the methods of those who do, such as faith healers and mediums. He makes clear in his performances that all of his apparent abilities, which manifest on stage/screen as feats of memory, intuition, mind-reading and control of other objects/people, are achieved through a variety of psychological means, such as hypnosis, suggestion, cold reading, misdirection, and showmanship, and in many cases he will often give detailed explanations of his specific methods during or after the performance. In some performances he also uses his techniques to explore issues of personality such as fears and motivation.

I'm QuizmONster, trt. I wouldn't bother pointing that out but there is - or used to be - a user called QuizmAster.
I wasn't "telling you" whether anyone was in a trance or not; I was simply pointing out that Derren Brown was performing a familiar type of stage act and that's precisely what Ellipsis was "telling you", too, with his Wikipedia quote!
