Okay everybody has heard sung or know about the 12 days of Christmas .Now my question is what days are they talking about .12 days leading up to Christmas or does it Start on Christmas and finish 12 days later .If it starting on Christmas why would one give gifts after Christmas Day is over ?

I was always taught that it began on Christmas Day and ended with Epiphany.

^^^ The 'Partridge in a Pear Tree' is a reference to Jesus Christ. I'm hazy on the next bit and am happy to be corrected, but I believe that the following days were all a festival time and gifts were given throughout.
