Olly Smith Ale Trail
1 Answers
I enjoyed the first episode, the other day of the craft beer revival currently sweeping the US on the other side of the pond.
There also seems to be a back to basics brewing revival here in the UK, which can only mean good news for small micro brewing businesses.
Tonight I sampled the delights of ale from a small independent in Norfolk, namely 'Winter Ash' and 'Lignum Vitae' which were both exquisite in their own right.
The third in the gift pack is the 'Oak bitter' which i'll sample later, which I think wont be too long.
I think theirs a lot to be said for brewing in small batches using traditional methods.
Wish I could stowaway in Ollies suit case ;-)

It's owned by the Grain Brewery, which produces those ales you're drinking. Or try the Kings Head on Magdalen Street, with the best selection of real ales in the city . . . or the Golden Star on Colegate for the friendliest real ale pub in Norwich - even if it is owned by Greene King - and some excellent grub. Norwich is a beer drinker's paradise!
Head south to Suffolk though for a county packed with small independent breweries. We're very cultured here in East Anglia!
