On Christmas Eve, I made a Steak and Ale casserole and used half a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale. I put the lid back on the beer and put it in the fridge. Will it still be ok to use in another casserole tomorrow?

I suppose it's now flat but will it have 'gone off'? Does beer go off?

I don't know if it goes off, once I open it I drink it.
Beer can go off as it isn't that high in alcohol, but 24 hours ain't going to be an issue, especially in the fridge. When cooking with ale how bubbly it is isn't really the issue.
I've never kept an open bottle long enough to find out.
I'm sure it will do but after 10 days maybe time to open a new bottle.
Just found this

It appears that an open bottle, with the cap just pressed over the top and refrigerated, can last quite OK up to 4 days before being finished. As would be expected, the sooner you can drink it the better. But, if you're really pressed, you can come back and still find a beer quite worth drinking after 96 hours.
Be sound Tills it is going to reach a temperature that renders it free of harmful bacteria, but I would not chance necking it. I have used wine that has been opened for a week, or two in cooking, and am still here to tell the tale.
Heck, I've necked wine that was opened a week earlier and left on the worktop. Sometimes it's improved. But if course it has a higher alcohol % volume.

It's now been in the fridge for ten days, perhaps I should just pour it down the sink. :-(
I'd use it. But there again I'd probably pour it, look at it, and taste it first.
That said, a bottle of Newbie Brown doesn't exactly break the bank.
This tablet keeps changing what I type, before my very eyes !
Newkie (it did it again then)

I've poured it away.
Crazy! Why on earth (a) did you not use the whole bottle in the first casserole and (b) throw the rest away? It would have been fine.
Question Author
Diddlydo, I didn't use the whole bottle because I cooked the casserole in the slow cooker and it would have been too much liquid.

Today's casserole has wine instead of beer.
Ah. Going upmarket for 2017 :-)
Question Author
Definitely, OG and there's some left over for drinking :-)
