I went for advice about a housing problem and came out feeling like a criminal.

Anyone else got this feeling after a visit to CAB ?

this is a repeat
you are trying to say your landlord doesnt exist ....
and so you dont have a valid tenancy
and so you can stay indefinitely

and this comes under an arcane part of the law which is called 'denial of title' and no wonder the CAB said "forget it and get out"

I think that is what I said as well ....

try it if you want

All im saying is the tenancy agreement which has expired was never signed by anyone and was never sent to me , so why did i pay £120 for it , and i only got an emailed copy after 5 attempts of asking , and probably was thrown together in panic by the letting agent .
If the company that owned your house has gone into liquidation or been dissolved then the administrators have to sell all its assets , including your house to raise cash to pay off the creditors.
That is why you have been served a S21 and why you can't find who the owner is!

Thanks for all your input , if i'm still smiling at the end of February i,ll let you know how it went .

Eddie the company was dissolved in 2010 .
Had an issue last year with a car component, also the company that sold me these units off ebay, I asked the CAB for some advice the advice I ended up giving them when I won the case, although a lot are Volunteers, they were helpful.
I have had nothing but good, friendly help from CAB.
It takes time to organise, yes 11 months is a long time, but it there could have been potential purchasers who have dropped out or could not agree the purchase terms. This sort of thing can easily go on for months or years!
wh isnt 2 mnth long enough to find anywhere? It seems quite long to me to find a rented place
Sorry just seen it was 2010 , not last February.
But the point still applies, a new company could have taken over and after a while decided to sell up rather than continue.
There obviously have been problems as you have not had notice of who your landlord is.
You really do need to ask Shelter for their advice as I said!
I was in the same situation last year. I was given 6 months to move out but I started looking straightaway. I found the lovely little flat I'm in now, within one week. Moved out and in within a month.

Just move on. It's not your house, whoever owns it.
if he allows the whole thing to go to possession and eviction
then he will have eight hours and not eight weeks

I reckon a judge will accept that the agency is an agent for a landlord and grant the order ....

the feeling I have is of a slow motion car crash
