Downloading limits

Does anybody know if ISP's such as NTL moan if you download too much content? I have a 4/meg line installed and it also comes with unlimited usage for downloads etc

Each day I usually download about 4 or 5 gb's of content (NOT pirated material), but just recently the amount has been upped to roughly 7gb that I have to download each day.

I know it's classed as unlimited usage, but will the moan and write silly letters to me or will they let me get on with it and not make a fuss?

Anyone use NTL and/or have had problems with their ISP with 'unlimited' downloading issues?

If it's an unlimited line, then no they won't complain.

We had a warning from tiscali about the amount of downloads and suggested we upgrade to their unlimited download package, which we did.
Now we have had an email from them warning us about a "fair usage policy" and if we don't either cut down or change the time of downloading to off peak times, tiscali will start to control our usage.
Read the small print before signing up in case your ISP has this "fair usage policy".

My ISP does have a fair usage policy written in the T&C's, but nowhere does it state the how much they class as "unfair". I was kinda assuming that 7gb per day may have fallen into that category, but I'm not too sure??

Anyone use NTL and download this kind of amount per day? If so, how have NTL reacted - if at all?

Tiscali's fair use policy basically says don't go downloading huge files like with BitTorrent after 6pm in the evening, until midnight I think, and on weekends from 12-4pm saturdays (something like that anyway). any other time is not in their fair use.

wise monkey: i'm curious as to what you're downloading so much of that isn't pirated stuff.
