If Trump is right both Cameron and NATO have one thing in common. Both are obsolete.
In case anyone missed it, the proposal is without foundation. Best ignored.
It would be a disaster. Look what happened in Libya. He also wanted to bomb Assad, admirable but we would soon have been up against Russia.
I do think this is a non-story.

Cameron is damaged goods after the Brexit farce, he would do well to keep away from anything high profile - and he probably has the sense to know that.
The very idea of NATO being obsolete fills me with horror, considering the belligerent nature of Russia under Putin. We have already seen how he marched into the Ukraine, and we sat back and did nothing.

What if he wanted to move back into the Baltic states again ? They are small, emerging nations and the Bear would march all over them in hours.

We can't rely on Trump being wedged up Putin's back passage to keep us safe....NATO must continue.

I don't think you need to worry about Nato being obsolete just because Mr Trump says it is - remember he was going to jail Hilary Clinton and build a wall ...
Andy Hughes - yes, I think the salt reserves must be running out in the US as the population keeps pinching it every time he opens his mouth.
Mikey,
NATO has quietly build up 4 battalions in Estonia, Poland, Romania and Latvia totalling more than 4,000 additional troops. And they are backed up by a massive increase in tanks, armoured vehicles and heavy guns. All that is supposed to send a message to Putin. Only problem, the President to be, is systematically gerrymandering the plans and the message.
No he hasn't got the backbone for it.
Think Tony Blair would do a better job,
Has Cameron expressed any interest in this?
Not that we know.
Non story of the year so far.
What is more interesting are Trump's views on NATO: if he actually means that NATO's methods, as opposed to purpose, are obsolete, or at least in need of a facelift, then he is right. That's another threat though.
Thread!
I don't know why anyone is taking this seriously.
The exchanges on here suggest that no-one on here is taking it seriously.
Don't know why anyone took Cameron seriously at all, even when he did lead The Con Party.
Did you see Panorama last night mikey?
Interesting similarity in interviewee tactic by both Trump and Dugin. i.e. get up and leave when the really awkward questions start ...
//Should Dave Be Nato Leader?//

At least the Americans, from Friday, will have a military man overseeing their armed forces. Having Call me Dave in charge would make it even more like Dad's Army.
andy-hughes at 09:55. I don’t know what you’re reading but whatever it is, it can’t be what I’m reading.
Tony Blair wasn't exactly hot on strategy either, gromit, a crisis then yes. It was said of him that put him on a football pitch and he would be confused to which goal he should play towards.
