I was having severe doubts by 2005 - living in France and reading the differences in expectation and understanding by then; the better my French got, the more I understood and the more I felt that the UK had to get out of the clutches of the mammoth EU. Then I saw how it was affecting the French themselves...not good as far as the 'France profonde' was concerned.
