Connecting To The Internet On A Smart Phone Using Id
2 Answers
Hi all,
Help !!
I've bought a cheap smartphone from China, a Susan X7.
I was connected to Lycamobile, and I had no trouble connecting to the internet, but I hated the provider.
I've now moved to iD, and although I've put in the settings correctly, I can't get on the Internet. I get the usual 'webpage unavailable' message.
I've taken it to the Carphone warehouse shop, and the guy there thought it was my phone, since he tried the SIM in another phone (not a smartphone) and it worked.
Can anyone help, suggest something I've done wrong?
I've checked the networks, and I am only given the option of connecting to Orange 2G (which is what iD uses).
Before I lose the will to live, HELP !!!!
Thanks in advance

However some cheap Chinese phones only work with 2G. (e.g. here's one which another AB member was considering buying recently, until we drew his attention to it being 2G-only : http:// tinyurl .com/hs a8s2q )
I strongly suspect that your phone (or, at least, the internet side of it) only works with a 2G connection. That would explain why it worked with Lycamobile (which still offers a 2G service) but not with iD Mobile (which only provides 3G and 4G). It might also explain why you found yourself hating Lycamobile (because everything was so slow) and why the only service that your phone can 'see' is a 2G one. (iD Mobile uses Three's network, not that of Orange/EE as you've suggested)
