I work part time in my local shop - where I have to look at these distasteful pictures every day - and as a lifetime non smoker why should I be subjected to these images.

I am certainly not being judgemental about smoking. My sympathy goes out to our few remaining smokers, and I think they should be offered all the help to kick their addiction.

They may decline any help of course, which is their right, but accepting that they are not "users" but addicts would help them enormously.

I do not see what is 'daft' about not wanting to inhale other people's cigarette smoke. My wife and neighbour are not forcing me to drink their wine so it has no effect on me, if they were smoking it would have an effect on me, it would mean I had no choice but to 'share' their poisonous fumes .
gness, In all the 35 years I have known the neighbour there has never been a hint of a 'tif' wine or no wine.
Yes, like everyone I have seen a few fights start because people were drinking too much. I have seen a man fall through a plate glass window because he was too drunk to walk. But I have seen children lose a parent to cancer caused by smoking. I have literally lost count of the number of people I know incapacitated to some degree by lung disease caused by smoking. In my opinion the damage to others caused by smoking is 100s or even 1,000s of times more than damage caused by drinking.

I said the harm caused by SMOKING not by passive smoking!!
I was talking about the number of smokers who have some degree of disability (mainly breathing/lung/stamina problems) due to their habit.
I don't know any long term smokers who do not have some degree of loss of fitness or chest/lung/stamina problems due to smoking.
Their lack of fitness or disability also affects their families and friends.
