There was nowt Ont box last night and as I've got one of those firesticky thingies, I decided to have a hunt round.
I discovered a classic episode of Steptoe and son. It was the one where they divided the house in half....absolutely brilliant. Great writing matched with excellent acting.

I remember that one melv, it was very good.

in the episode "any old iron" broadcast in 1970, Harold made friends with a cultured old antiques dealer with whom he sought erudite conversation, but old man Steptoe recognized Harold's friend's interest as something else. the irony of the situation would probably have been lost on the audience of the time.

In my opinion, comedy has never been done better than those old BBC programs. I listen to Steptoe on the Radio Four Extra broadcasts every week....simply perfect !

Another favourite has been the old Hancock radio series...some of the programs are almost as old as me, but the scripts were wonderful....its all in the writing.
