I've never had it before.
Any suggestions on how to cook it?

oo love hake..bake it in oven or pan fry ,bit of lemon..yum yum..eat it a lot in Portugal..
Hake is my favourite white fish. I pan fry it.

Into the pan it goes, then:-)
My Grandma used to buy silver hake from the fishmonger. She would cook it in the oven in a dish of milk, butter and pepper. I do the same with plaice.
I hope you enjoy your new fish.
Unscrupulous chippies used to pass off hake as cod as it was so much cheaper. Still might do if truth be known.
Depends what you have. I bake a whole fish on a bed of spuds, onions, and tomatoes; and I fry fillets like I would most fillets - skin side down until they are nearly cooked then flip to finish off.

Will buy hake again, it was delicious. Decided to pan fry after dusting the skin with seasoned flour. Had it the first cut of asparagus from the allotment. The earliest I've ever had them.
Pan fry? If you didn't fry it in a pan what would you fry it in?
Same as you melv ... just brought my first asparagus home tonight .. we had Bass. You have just reminded me about it, I forgot we had it and it is still sat in the fridge.

Oh you luck lads with Asparagus. Wrap it tightly in parma ham, lightly drizzle with good olive oil and pop it in the oven until tender. Heaven.

Smelly wee!
lol @ Tilly ...add an over stuffing of beetroot...smelly red wee !!
Being instructed to pan fry is quite different to being instructed to fry in a pan, Jack.
