I think Mr Curtice has hit the nail on the head, we never really felt we were involved with the EU it always felt like them and us. What could we/they have done to make it work?

I never wanted to be part of the EU, I never felt part of it and I am only glad that I have lived to see the day when it starts to fragment. If I had my way I would erect a statue in every town in the land to Nigel Farage, who almost single- handedly saved us by forcing Cameron's hand.

"The Brexit referendum was never about the EU. It was about immigration, or rather the average Briton's age-old horror of foreigners. "
Not for me, it wasn't, allen, as I've explained countless times (as recently as 13:00 on this question).
Forget the individual regulations imposed by the EU, or whether you agree with them or not. The question you must answer is whether you are prepared to sacrifice the control of your lawmakers because you trust that the lot that are (currently) entrusted with that task are more likely to look after your interests. Or, put another way, if the EU suddenly decided that (say) their Working Time Directive was no longer fit for the 28 members and was to be ditched, how would you then feel and what could you do about it?

NJ – Obviously if the European Commission started to behave like the honourable members at Westminster – there is nothing I could do about it.
Similarly there is nothing I can do about MPs in Westminster (and their behaviour).
OG – What in the world makes you think any of our MPs have my interests at heart?

Although I said in an earlier post, I thought that the EU would do something about zero hours contracts within the UK – in retrospect, I suspect that the EU has become rather fed up with fighting our battles (even before Brexit).
If the UK cannot manage to elect a government that will outlaw the appalling treatment of its citizens, such as zero hours contracts, or companies charging usury interest rates on loans – why should they bother to help us?
