I Had A Car Accident. What Are My Options Now?

so 2 months back i was driving and this car was coming at my so a swerved and hit a van. the car drove off and this lady came up and turned around saying it was my fault she saw it even thou she was coning up a steep hill and theres no way she could of seen it. anyway...i spoke to this guy and we agreed to go over it in cash i only hit his fronr wheel arch but due to shock i didnt take any pictures... i know stupid. anyway he said 2 weeks ago he booked it into a body shop its £700 and now hes staying i scraped all 3 pannels. i didnt report it to the insurence. he said he booked it in on a certain date because he was going on holiday. he gave me his address to drop off the money. i said no ill pay the garage. so now hes saying he couldnt book it in. and hes saying a different date now. i feel like hes having me on. what are my options?

He is trying to con you contact your insurance & let them sort it.

...and the insurance company will want to know why it wasn't reported at the time ie TWO MONTHS ago.

It's going to be a lesson learnt here I'm afraid, it's one of the oldest con going Ashlea, I
can you take a Mr Ashlea with you to check the damage? but there's nothing to say that the van driver has added to the damage, I don't know what else to suggest.

To add Ashlea, you say you hit his wheel arch that could have knocked the alignment out, damaged his tyre / wheel, Shock absorber and a few other Suspension components, do you see where I'm going?

except i didnt damage it... his is them cars thats good off road... but aint he in the same situation with the insurence

take the lesson now. Go and tell your insurer everything and take the pain.

so you suggest i lose ky insurence which makes it near impossible to get a new insurer?

Why will you lose your insurance ?.

in thr large majority of insurence companys if you dont report eothon 28 days they will not cover you and they are within their right to withdraw your cover

what do you want us to say? Your options are two. Pay up, except he knows he’s got you by the gonads and its may not end there (did they teach you about danegeld at school?) There is also the issue that you then have something in your insurance history which can bite your bum at a later date.
Option two is to stop this now, talk to your insurers and start to repair the situation.

Tell him you'll pay the garage when the work is complete. Also tell him you want to see three separate quotes for the repair.
Also I think TWR is right, he definitely sounds like some sort of con artist.

he just wants your money then he wont mend the car
tell him to get 3 written quotes from seperate quality establishments
you need someone who is savvy with these kind of dealings
do not admit liability in writing or text
i personally would tell him that if its repaired before i had someone inspect it then he will get sweet f.a.
