I have had a Works cordless mower, low priced, for 2 years and the battery is now hardly charging. Are all cordless mower batteries, even higher priced, likely to need replacing after a couple of years? These mowers are so convenient, but is this the price you pay for the convenience?
I don't know about lawnmowers but we had a Bosch cordless strimmer which cost about £25 originally but a new battery, after a couple of years, would have cost about £80. There seems to be a bit of built in obsolesence.
That is what the adverts never tell you !
The batteries only last a year or two before they need replacing and the new batteries cost almost as much as an entire new mower! It's the same with cordless vacuum cleaners , drills and anything else 'cordless' !!
Thanks for the replies. I think I shall have to go back to electric mowers and struggle with the cord. My original electric mower lasted for about 25 years!
I dread to think what is going to happen when the 'electric cars' we are seeing now need new batteries in two years or so. The new battery will cost around 1/2 the cost of the car!
^ A bit of Googling tells me that most electric cars are sold with the battery pack 'on lease' so it gets replaced when it starts to lose charge. A new battery for a Nissan 'Leaf' was quoted as £28,000!!
