I can't seem to find the AB election poll , I know it had to be removed , but I assumed it would be back.
I am interested in seeing how the %'s in the AB poll compared to the actual result?
What would the result be if the AB % vote was 'real'?

The AB 'question' was not really a poll, there is no attempt to get a cross section of the public it is simply asking people who go in News how they will vote. If you did the same on the Guardian site no doubt Labour would have 'won' and on the Daily Mail probably much the same as AB.

So I am very confused at what some are extracting from it.
I've been wondering: do you see each election as if the previous results don't matter at all? So that each party starts from zero votes and zero seats and no idea at all what support they can expect nationally. Is that a fair summary?
eh?
It wasn't just a poll for those people that go into 'News' was it? I rarely go into 'News' but I voted in the poll.
No. I just try to gauge the mood of the country and then wait for the result. This time I said I wouldn't like to say who was going to win. I thought the Conservatives would probably do it, but I wouldn't have put a bet on it.

youngmafbog I know it was not a 'poll'.
The entire point is to show that AB members do not represent a true cross section of the population!
ymb: I'd tend to agree, but I think for my part I was just curious. Scientific polling has had a bad reputation lately, and I wondered if maybe an "opt-in" poll like at AB is worth taking more seriously than you might think. For 2010, 2015 and the EU referendum I think AB's poll wasn't that bad in the end, or at least "missed" the true result in a very consistent way, but that pattern didn't hold for 2017.

Still, if nothing else I found it fun to mess around and see what information I could get out of AB polls.
OK, thanks Naomi for answering.
You're welcome.

naomi, You are wasted on AB
Your ability to put 'spin' on any news you don't like would be the envy of any Political Adviser or Press Officer.
Have you considered offering your services to the Conservatives , or your hero Trump ? They could really use you at the moment!
I'm guessing that there are many retired or independently wealthy members of this august body, given the time devoted to not very much really.
// Jim, //In a nutshell, AB got it very, very, very wrong. //
Not very, very, very wrong. As far as I recall the majority of the votes here went to the Conservatives .... and they won. Not bad really.//

hahaha I love AB threads like these
when they get REALLY crazy - like so freaky you wanna call MI5 or something as a public duty
they make me PP look almost sane

The AB poll was right of course
it is just the voters voted the wrong way !

yeah right on !

(yeah OK saner than I normally look which is not exactly erm sane)
