On Friday night my wife experienced severe pains in her lower abdomen on the right side. She had the shivers and could not move once she was in bed.
Saturday morning she was still in pain but could cope. Sunday she managed to host our grandkids for the day, but didn't look well and still had a sharp pain in her abdomen.
Monday morning a miracle, no pain and back to her old self.
Can any member suggest what can this episode could have been?

Grumbling appendix?
Not enough information......this pain....was it constant over the weekend or did it come in waves?
Did she have "water works " problems.....passing more, urgency, incontinence or burning?
Was she nauseous?
Has she had any similar symptoms in the past?
Has she passed the menopause?

Thanks Dannyk13 and Sqad for your prompt suggestions.
My wife is out at the moment but I'll get her to answer with more info later.
Severe pain and temp on Friday night, back to her old self and out on Monday morning.
Unlikely to be grumbling appendix as "grumbling" suggests that it has been "moaning" for weeks or months....this is a sudden acute episode of something........kidney stone comes to mind.
I will await your replies.

The pain was there all the time associated with movement.
She was passing more water but no burning.
Felt quite nausious.
No symptoms previously.
Well passed the menopause.
Over to you Sqad....
Ok.......monitoring the situation over , maybe a period of weeks or months may well provide you with a diagnosis, BUT from what you have said my first thought would be that it was a kidney stone passing from the kidney, down the ureter and for a few hours " got stuck." This is not an uncommon situation and the history that she gave via you, is quite typical. There may or may not be another stone, which may oy may not pass into the ureter which may or may not get stuck. A lot of "mays " there.
If it were me, i would not consult a medic at this stage, but if she does, then keep us updated.

Thanks Sqat, you have expressed what I think has happened.
Will keep in touch if there is any repeat of the symptoms.

Ten days on and I'm pleased to say that my wife is as 'Right As Rain' and back to her old self. Can conclude now that it could have been a stone passing.
Thanks to all member who took an interest.
Sqat LOL
