The Alzheimers is getting steadily worse, and he is now mostly in bed as he has trouble staying awake. We are ten years plus into this horrid disease now, and I admit it tests my patience at times.
I seem (to him) to be the enemy though all I want is his comfort and well being. I hate nagging, he hates me nagging. It starts as gentle reminders, but gets to the nagging stage invariably.
Wish I could cope better with this. I don't want him befuddled in a home or hospital, and I'll fight tooth and nail to keep him at home where he knows his surroundings.
Not a question really, I think I am just venting a bit.
Probably in wrong section anyway.

And to top it all, I gave the wrong dog Vetoryl this morning :(

ferlew, I think everyone will forgive your ranting and I am sure no one objects to it.
It must be very hard being a carer for such a thief of a disease.
Chin up xx
i'm sending you a big ab hug you deserve it .it must be very very hard coping with this awful illness xx
Vent away , what you are doing is fantastic and done with love and care. Of course frustration comes into play with that too, so allow yourself that.

I presume you're getting all the help you need or want too.

Proud of you ♥
I cared full time for FIL with Alzheimers... not easy and you wont get many thanks or much help either...but you can live with your conscience that you care with love and a good heart... take care xx
Ferlew, you vent and rant as much as you feel the need to on here.
I'm sure a lot of us understand your emotions
It's a wicked, wicked disease/illness

((hugs)) xx
Vent as much as you like, you have my total respect for dealing with his dreadful illness. Good luck and try to get some relief and have a bit of fun too. It's your life too.
The AB'ers above have already said it all really, so if I may, I'll just throw my best wishes & a hug in your direction - ((ferlew)) x
So sorry for your situation ferlew and so sorry for Mrf too. I know a dear lady whose Mum is in the throes of this terrible illness and it has made her extremely aggressive and this lady is punched and bullied on a daily basis and is constantly asked the same questions over and over and over again. She won't put her Mum into care and so the pain goes on. Terrible, terrible disease - so sad there is no cure xx
You are doing the very best you can. I'm sure the former Mr Ferlew would have hugged you appreciatively for your loving care. It seems a thankless task at times I'm sure x
Ferlew, you've put my seemingly stressful day in to perspective anyway x

Thanks all, that has actually had a rather strange effect, not expected at all, your kindnesses made me weep, and I have been keeping that held in for so flipping long, maybe I just needed that release.
Vet has also just popped round with 2 tablets to give as antidote to the dog I mistakenly gave the Vetoryl to earlier on.
So between the two things my day just improved no end, thank you :)
Never bottle it up always some lovely people here to listen.x
Sorry life is so difficult for you Ferlew. Just know that you are doing your best. I send you a hug too.
Vent on, ferlew. It's good for you. x
am with you, both my parents had this, though 'early' stages, hard for all concerned.do hope you get help, you do need some you time!
It's so hard ferlew. I watched it take my Mum. Big hug from me. Xxx
Ferlew....I'm so sorry for what you're both going through.....and for such a long time...

About twelve years for my mum but now she's in a home she is better for it.....and I certainly am.....

For both your sakes you may have to think about that.....but I really do know what a hard and heart breaking decision it is.....

Much love....Gx
So hard for you. It has all been said before me. I offer hugs, cuddles and support whenever you need it. The dog will live! I collapsed and wept over the kindness of people a couple of weeks ago. Save that support. xx :)

I managed a wry grin at teatime. I had got him a couple of nice salmon steaks (easy to eat) and some small green beans, when I offered it I was told he really didn't fancy fish for his tea. Further enquiries brought out a request for 'a nice piece of haddock, and some mushy peas, no chips' sighhhhhhhhhhh
He left the mushy peas. :)
I too echo the sentiments of the other posters. I have what I would have called 2 aunts but they were neighbours who were in my life a lot who both have the disease but they are two sisters. One is in a separate home from the other - they do have family well one does.

One is 82 has it for 12 years and the other 84 has it about 2 years.

It is a terrible heartbreak for all concerned and it is so normal to have all the feelings you have.
