It was a b side for the ace kefford stand (featuring cozy powell). Was this what you meant, or was it more of an x-rated reply?

What's the ace kefford stand? And, no, I wasn't looking for anything x-rated. I had a feeling it was something to do with a 1960s TV programme. I remember kids in the playground saying it, though it wasn't on any show I ever remember seeing - probably ITV which we didn't really watch much.

A very little known band. I dont know if they covered it or wrote it. It may be this song you are hearing. Suggest we ask The Mighty Hughes.....

And a track covered by Bauhaus (and Pete Murphy's cheekbones). I thought the phrase originated with The Golden Shot (Bob Monhouse, et al), so echoing mrsdanvers's feeling that it might have had something to do with an ITV show. I seem to recall some fluffy puppet saying 'gravy booby' in a spoonerised version of the then popular saying 'groovy, baby'. Up a bit, down a bit... Do I get a prize?
