This is beginning to look like a long running advert
I'm not much of a drinker now...but I can certainly vouch for the continental meats and cheese they both do. Aldis huge tubs of real Greek yogurt are as good as the Total brand, and they both do an excellent West Country butter with sea salt.
Going to lidl for an air fryer later, Mikey so I'll look at the wines....thank you....
Aldi does sell some excellent wines too....in fact I do most of my shop there now......
When they sell their wool I stock up....it's so much better than the more expensive offerings in other shops....
The lidl in Kettering is good but the one in Corby even better so I toddle over there now and again....x
To broaden the thread slightly, the current best wine deal (on the quality/price equation) is undoubtedly Ocado's "5 for £25" offer :

https://www.ocado.com/webshop/getSeasonalCategories.do?tags=%7C185062

Add to that a £20 discount (if you are a new customer and spend £80) and it starts to look very good indeed. Free delivery too if you pick your slot carefully and spend over £75.

If you like a good beefy red, then the Smoking Mountain Shiraz in this offer is excellent. From the whites I'd recommend the Cono Sur Bicicleta Viognier.

not long back from the food shopping, local lidl has a gurt big empty space where some wine is supposed to be :-)

You will take their trollies back, Alba?.... ;-)
I do, gness, I want my quid back lol :-D xx

All this reminds me of my very first visit to Waitrose.

I circled around the car park for ages, not really knowing if I was doing the right thing or not.

I mean..........would I find it a bit too posh for me? ....would I like when I got there ?.......What if someone I knew saw me entering the shop !

But eventually I summoned up the courage and went in.....and do you know ?.....it wasn't half as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I still won't buy those Italian Truffles at £7.95 a jar, of curse but as long as I am sensible, its really not too bad !
£7.95 for a jar of truffles!! lawdy, how many are in the jar? 2? :-D
Not many but in truth, not a bad price for how little you need.

Mikey...... after MrG died I was a bit under the weather and exhausted.....
I friend said I'd benefit from a day out.......she took me to Waitrose!
Not my shop of choice even before that outing..... :-)

have never been in a Waitrose, my local one is a train and a bus ride away.

Mamy got there before me !

Actually, whenever I am near a Waitrose, I buy a couple of jars of their Three Fruit Marmalade, as its delicious and surprisingly inexpensive....only £1.65 ::::

About 40 miles for me. They were going to pen open on the Gurnos housing estate, in Merthyr but they changed their mind !
Three fruit marmalade eh? Now that sounds nice.

Talking of marmalade, I haven't seen any of that Robinsons Lime Marmy for ages
Question Author
Alba....Roses still make Lime Marmalade, and very nice it is as well. But watch out...sometimes it might be the lime/lemon version. Still very nice but the jars look terribly similar.

Bizarre, unless you go around dressed like Wolfy Smith just to show people exactly where your political allegiance sits.
Why on earth would you care who saw you go in?
Question Author
Talbot....lighten up for Gods sake.
