/// But her comments are likely to be criticised by those who say they risk cultivating racist attitudes by implying a link between ethnic background a propensity to commit certain crimes. ///

One must surely ask, does the introduction of different cultures also introduce more crime?

We're talking about one girl then? Not a group of men grooming vulnerable girls.

Obviously no link between these gangs and Muslims, according to this guy.

In answer to the original question, Yes, I do agree.
Anyone who has worked in the public services in the last thirty years will know that decisions had to be made taking race/colour/ethnicity/sex into account, the only ones in school who were always punished for their misdemeanours were white, working class boys.
A teacher's car was damaged, deliberately and the Deputy Head was spitting, until he found who the perpetrator was, then it had to be handled with increased sensitivity not to alienate the 'community'. Needless to say the smirking little git got away with a 'talking to'.
First and foremost I associate knife crime predominantly with London. I do like check facts so looked for a link and got a tad distracted with this

Why have the BBC used a picture of a white man that has nothing to do with a knife crime?
Well BBC fans ...?
AOG

Perhaps the answer to your question is that it correct that certain crimes are overwhelmingly committed by specific ethnic groups.

1. Sexual grooming is mainly Asian
2. Knife crime is mainly black
3. Paedophile rings (those involving very young children) are mostly white.

I'm going on what I see reported in the papers. Is this what you too have observed?
ANOTHEOLDGIT, he was saying the men could not call themselves true Muslims because of their actions in the same way that some actions or beliefs can be called un-Christian.
The idea that people live their life as a Muslim right up to the time they commit a crime and suddenly they are not Muslim is a complete nonsense and a cop out
TALBOT would you have objected if the offender had not been a London? Looks like they just used a stock image to illustrate the story but as it happens, he was a fifteen-year old arrested in connexion with a riot.
I keep getting told the BBC only like to publish facts and truth ...?

That image therefore should not have been used as at best it is misleading.

Do you check the source of every photo that's used to illustrate a story?
No

Why would I?

But I checked that one and found the BBC (not for the first time) trying to mislead me.
What made you check that one? Had the BBC used the image of the lad taken from the front, you'd have been none the wiser about his colour.
A growing mistrust of the BBC made me check it.

I'm sure we have all seen the shocking footage from the halal slaughter house (I've seen loads) that has help the government thinking on CCTV in abattoirs ... this is how the BBC reported it and it made me laugh.

This on top of the BBC editing videos by cutting bits out leaves me with no confidence in them to run a story without any bias.

Over 100 posts in I'm sure AOG won't mind the distraction.
I quite agree, any photo of Michael Gove should come with a warning, discraceful!

It is not only the BBC, TV police documentaries it is very rare to see anyone of colour being arrested, or even shown in a bad light generality.
ANOTHEOLDGIT, yet another baseless claim. You don't half come out with claptrap.
Although not an ethnic this is a crime I associate with white people.
