I'm flummoxed. Where does the new moon answer go? I've got freemen in the bottom right quadrant going across. it's the only place other than top left across. Think I may have to rework the puzzle.

You're welcome, Nancy - if you mean the M from 'new Moon', that is the 2nd letter of a Y answer.

The column 2 down answer was pretty obvious after your hint Lie-in-King and Mamyalynne. I learn a lot of things I didn't know when I do these puzzles; Not up on my norse mythology.
