Why is it that flip-flops are so bloomin painful? I've never found a comfy pair and I can't face the thought of having painful blisters for a week or so and wait for them to go before I can wear flip-flops in comfort. Has anyone got any ideas? Does surgical spirit work and if so how long do you have to soak your feet for? Any ideas greatly appreciated!!
I am the same, I find the the bit between my toes really hurts! I have also found that those ones with the loop round the toe are much less painful as they stop my foot pushing too far forward and rubbing on the toe post.
Also, making sure the toe post is leather helps me
Ive just bought a pair of Hush Puppies flip-flops and they are the first pair Ive owned that dont hurt. The toe bar is leather and really comfy and the sole is cushioned suede. They do them in black or white at Barratts but they are expensive at 35.
I usually find the toe bar in flip-flops too hard. Plus I get sore feet, especially my heels, when I walk on flat, hard shoes.
I wasnt trying to be funny. I'm just seeing if you actually need flip flops, I've got a great pair that dont go between your toes because I have same problem as you slip forward they rub between big tow and the next. The ones I have now are also moulded to fit your feet.
thats why i wear birkenstocks, the toe post is not near the skin between your toes and as they are moulded your foot stays in place, i hated them as a child but since being pregnant i bleeding love them!
it's just because you r feet are soft after months in stout shoes. I used to wear flipflops year-round and never had trouble; now I blister easily. Best thing is just to break them in slowly at the start of summer, just wear them an hour or three at a time for the first week or two till the skin toughens up a bit.
Get some Birkenstocks or Sand Monkeys!! I always get blisters from shoes or flip-flops but haven't had any from these! They are so comfortable and are worth paying the extra money for! I used to buy cheap and cheerful flip-flops/sandals but they gave me such bad blisters so I went for the above and love them! You can get some really funky colours and designs too so they aren't boring!
I had trouble with the bit that goes between your toe but found wrapping a soft fabric plaster around the actual toepost helped a lot, leave the plaster on for several weeks then remove it . I can now wear any type of flip flop with no trouble as the skin has toughend up, good luck
If you use a clear plaster around the toepost it won`t show. You can buy gel things to use also, but I can`t remember where from, sorry. Check out Boots. I`ve a vague recollection that Schol makes them
I always used to get blisters with any sandals I wore. Now, I always rub some Vaseline on my foot where straps/toe-post might rub and have never had a problem since! ☺ x
