Had my Gall bladder removed a couple of months ago after about 18 months of random( 1 or 2 a month) Gall stone attacks. Always at night and the most agonising thing you have ever had. No pain killer will touch it, not even codeine, and the attacks lasted for about an hour sometimes accompanied by the worst barf storms from both ends you would think possible. All she can do for now Mikey is monitor her diet to see what triggers the attack in her case. For me it was cheese, cream, mushy peas(would you believe), curry, pastry, and tinned tomatoes amongst other things. If she is lucky she will pass the stone or stones, but if she is unlucky enough to have a large one or more she will need the surgery. Mine was actually stuck in my bile duct and was critical when I had the op. Infection of the Gall bladder is proper serious. The ultrasound treatment to break down stones is not an option for Gall stones, only Kidney stones, and as far as I am aware they no longer provide any treatment other than Gall bladder removal after letting you endure months of agony. I can tell you there is no pain like it. Feel sorry for her.
