Autoplay On Bbc Website

When I watch a video on the BBC News website, it automatically plays more videos. This really bugs me, and I can't see the point of it.

There is an 'Autoplay Off' option at the top of the video, but it doesn't remember this, and defaults back to on.

Is there a way to switch it off for good?

The only way to do it is to change your browser settings, so that you have to grant permission for videos to play:

Thanks Chris, I'll look into that tomorrow when I am more with it.

The ironic thing is that when you click on your link it autoplays a video.
I dislike autoplay websites too. I shall also check out the link. Thanks.
(Surely 'off' should be any decent browser's default anyway ?)
Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Tried it on Firefox, set the flash play to ask rather than always play.

Sure enough Youtube video embedded in links here won't simply play, one has to tick permission for this one time. It then tries to play but claims an error. Something that is proven to be untrue if one goes back to the plug-in settings and returns flash to always play.

Unsure that was a workable solution.

Unfortunately it's not the answer on Chrome either.

I followed the instructions, though some of the selections have been modified.
It does then require permission to start the video, but the BBC Autoplay still automatically plays the next videos.

I think the answer is that I will have to remember to click Autoplay Off as soon as I start a news video.

I will also see if there is some feedback option where I can have a moan.

I have sent Auntie my complaint.

Apparently it exists purely to annoy and they deliberately ignore your turning it off immediately you leave the page.

Did you ever get a response to your complaint ?

It's driving me mad. There ought to be a law against it.
