OK, let's apply that logic to Brexit then.
Britain joined the EU when it was an advantageious trading agreement, that was 'then'. It is now a top-heavy beurocratic behemoth draining millions out of the UK, and foisting millions of migrants on the country - this is 'now'.
So why can't Tony accept that the British people were given a choice, and they made it, instead of banging on about doing it all 'differently'.

He's right of course but as I said earlier it's pretty pointless trying to get MPs to argue for this as in the current climate they are scared to be seen to be going against the "will of the people"
The thinking is, we may be going over the cliff, but three of the passengers wanted it, and only the driver and one other did not. QED (Quit Europe Defiantly).
The other problem is Blair's reputation, wholly ridiculously and unfairly, is toxic. I mean, he did a lot of things I didn't agree with most notably the Iraq war, but some of the headless chicken ranting these days is nonsensical.
I rather agree with Matthew Parris: Remainers should not be seen to be obstructing Brexit now: wait for the inevitable chaos and then get involved.

Yup, I think that would 'toxify' just about anyone's reputation.
It's just not possible for anyone to say Blair was wonderful, except for that little blip that was the war thingy - he is poisoned for ever by it, and his hubris is writ large, except he refuses to see it, and go away.

Better immigration policies, if they could be agreed (and they clearly couldn't be) with permission of the EU, is, according to him, going to give us our sovereignty back, and return us to being a nation worthy of the title once more ? I don't think he even understands the problem.

Why? He and his administration presided over the largest ever influx of migrants to this country. He refused to restrict immigration from the eastern European nations when they were accepted into the EU in 2005 and 2007 when almost all the other EU nations did so for up to seven years (as allowed under EU rules). He said there was no need and expected only around 13,000 a year to settle. In the event a quarter of a million arrived annually for many years placing unprecedented strain on public services and housing which continues to this day. In his recent discovery of the Light he now says “that was then, this is now”. Quite so. That was then (when he could but didn’t do something to prevent it). This is now (when the damage is done and he can pass the buck to somebody else and blame them for not sorting out the mess).
