I am surrounded by Marys...have been all my life... and newbies into our family don't have many names to remember despite there being dozens of us.....just say Mary and you'll be grand....
My daughter's been to a play in Ireland today....The Six Marys....a one woman play about growing up in Ireland in the 50s surrounded by Marys....
The Mary who made her laugh most is the one who has given up church confession for a different type of confession....the recycling centre.....

we have Uncle Rob in Oz, Uncle Robert in Canada, Uncle Robert in SA and one in NZ plus there's one in Holland.
Do folk not get together to name their kiddies? lol
would save a load of confuddling.
Some of the Roberts have even named their sons Robert so that really helps!! lol

I can't beat any of the 'family name' posts - I'm the only David for many generations in any direction (including sideways).
I do however have an irritating middle name - my Mum was a devout Royalist and my Dad an equally devout Republican - so when she said she wanted me called Charles (after the young prince) he was (by all accounts) apoplectic.
So she gave in and I was David with an added family name second.
What my Dad hadn't accounted for was my Mum going to the Register Office on her own - she gave 'Charles' as a third name - and then quietly put the Birth Certificate in the family filing cabinet.
I believe it was only when I started school that he spotted the deception ... and I spent years as 'the posh git with three names' ...
