Had a phone call from someone trying to sell me a home security gadget that checked if there was a fire or gas leak and automatically phoned emergency services. Because it was "government sponsored" it only cost £10. Unfortunately they don't install it. This has to be done by BT and they only charge £399. Is someone having a laugh?

I had a guy call at my door at 9pm at night trying to sell me solar panels when I told him to take a hike or similar words to that effect he said - you have to listen the government sent me ! - I just laughed in his face and replied well the govt can pee off as well.

You can regard that as nonsense and buy one to install by yourself.
About £100 is needed for such a security system. (including sensors and control panel)
