I'm not sure why you want to avoid Google, but - if you change your mind - click here for a selection. Worth a look.
The truest saying I know of about children regards the error of hitting them to discipline them. I never smack my kids partly because I don't feel I have the right and partly because I believe this saying to be true.
"You beat one devil out and another twenty in."
I like the saying where you address the child and say "one day you will know as little as your parents"

Hi QM, the reason I wanted to avoid Google, although its not mandatory, is because I just wanted sayings or poems that people already know, I could be wrong, but to me, then they are more genuine, and from the heart. I could have done what you have, and its a very good link, but I think, if its comes from the heart, like nox's, then you can tell the real character.

But thats just my opinion.
My confusion, Lonnie, was because of your use of the word 'saying'. That always suggests to me something relatively widely known, more or less by definition. But I see the point you are getting at now. Cheers

And beat him when he sneezes
He only does it to annoy
Because he knows it teases.
