I'm stuck (as usual!) I've got about half of the grid filled in, and realise it's something to do with the elimination of men! Could someone help me with: 7 across Body covering a dancing girl, Alf's away (5) there is an extra 'H' making Alf into half (I think!)33 across: Show a disfiguring from acne (8) P??F???? (I keep thinking Pot Faced - but I'm sure it's not!)
As to the book title, might I have read it? I usually only read true crime (especially on Jack the Ripper!)
I'm determined to finish this crossword!!!!!!
Thanks in advance

I can see performance(show) with last four letters being an anagram of acne if that helps.
Or could it be Perfor(man)ce?
^That makes sense Danny.
Per = a (as in one per day/one a day)
+anagram of 'from acne' with MAN removed (if that is the theme)

Thank you dannyk13 & Calibax, that's helped me, but I'm still struggling to get the book title and 7 across. It's my birthday today so any ideas would be a great pressy ! (grovel!)
Hope you had a great birthday Ripper. Unfortunately this isn't one of the i's best puzzles, 7a is ABAYA and the title is one of HG Wells best known novels (3,9,3).
