Getting a mouse to live to at least five years of age, instead of the normal two years, will be the first hurdle. Andrzej Bartke of the Southern Illinois School of Medicine managed to get his mouse, a genetically engineered critter named GHR-KO 11C (11C for short), to live 1,819 days, just short of five years. That is the equivalent of 150 to 180 human years.
