Warning Light On Toyota Aygo
My Toyota Aygo 8 years old has suddenly started showing the warning red light for the power steering.
Was told that it was because the battery was run down but charging it up has not altered the fault.
Anyone had the same fault.

Absolutely NOT the battery. As SirOracle says, most likely the fluid level, although some cars now have electric power- steering and I don't know whether or not they have fluid in the system. Look at your handbook for both information on the warning light and how to check the fluid level.

EPS is quite a common fault on the Aygo, ask the dealership if the fault code was C1554.

That's an interesting link Tonyav. The fact that it can have sudden failure is worrying. You won't actually lose steering if it fails but, many years ago our neighbour was going round a bend on a country road when her power-steering belt snapped (that's when there's most stress on it, of course). The steering suddenly became very heavy and she went off the road.
Ignorant of what type of power-steering was fitted to the Aygo I was speculating that it was conventional fluid with electrically operated speed dependance. Failure of the speed dependance wouldn't be tragic. If it's all-electric with the module you referred to, I think I'd be getting it changed.

The answer from creamcake 10 just solved it for me - no tools required, just looked under the steering wheel for Right Hand Drive the process is (on the left side above the footwell there is a socket for electronic connector, ignore it, on the right side nearest the driver door you have to go under the dash and will find a connecting box with several sets of connectors) I did exactly as creamcake said, engine on, disconnect connector nearest door ...two minutes later reconnect and drive away happy.
Another thank you to Creamcake10 - I didn't even start the engine - I just pulled that plug before even putting the ignition on to make sure I could do it easily enough, then turned the car on and the light was out and the power steering was working again. And a big thank you from my wife as well - she's starting a new job tomorrow and was panicking about getting there with the car breaking on a bank holiday Monday!
