Watched an episode of Pointless today.
Question was ‘Capital cities that celebrate the new year at the same time as London or later.
Acceptable answers were Lima and Washington DC, (and Dublin and Lisbon).
Now, I’m going to sound really stupid here, but if I leave the UK at 6.00pm and fly to Washington, I arrive at 1.00pm (give or take an hour), so how does that become later??

London, UK is 5 hours ahead of Washington, DC, USA therefore they will celebrate later.

No, I didn’t mean that. I didn’t like the fact that although the answers are correct, I still didn’t understand it, but I’ve got it now.
I’ve removed the actual hours mentioned, and just go with the fact that they have to wait for five more hours after us to celebrate. Don’t know why I didn’t get it before.

Well I didn't get it all at first but now re-read it's asking for cities that hit midnight either at the same time as London or LATER which would mean any West of us before it hits the international date line in the Pacific.

if you were to leave London for Washington at 6pm (if such a flight existed), since the flight takes 7 hours, you'd reach Washington at 8pm, not 1pm.
