I know I'm giving a link to a Daily Mail piece written by Piers Morgan (probably the two worse unofficial crimes that can be committed on Answerbank), but he's right, isn't he?

Virtue signallers are very quick to point out that people have a right to decide what gender they are, which of course they do, but it doesn't make it any less absurd that one day or one hour somebody may decide they're a woman if they're a man or a man if they're a woman (can we still use words like 'man' and 'woman' without offending those who think they are neither?). Those same virtue signallers are probably the ones that use the ridiculous term 'cis gender'.

Thank you jno,
yes he's bang on.
"Virtue signallers are very quick to point out that people have a right to decide what gender they are, which of course they do" - no you cannot alter gender, you can dress up and play about with surgery but you cannot change the fundamental make up of your cells.
What The Funicular is Cis ?
The whole mess stems from enabling parents telling untalented offspring that they can be anything they want.
All the unhappy Media Studies graduates in the country just want that promise fulfilled. :-)
Used to be Co-op Insurance Tora, they had a bowling tournament and everything.

JNO is exactly right anneasquith - of course I disagree with them....but he didn't answer your question.

A virtue signaller is (from Wiki);

"Virtue signalling is the conspicuous expression of moral values done primarily with the intent of enhancing standing within a social group. The term was first used in signalling theory, to describe any behavior that could be used to signal virtue—especially piety among the religious."

Or in other words, 'aren't I so achingly right on by agreeing with something because it makes me look good'.

TTT - gender fluid people of course have the right to identify how they please - its nonsense - but they do have the right, but I certainly don't believe we should be pandering to it by possibly enshrining their right to do so in law.

If somebody is genuinely 'born in the wrong body' (and I have my doubts because their feeling of being a man or a woman can only ever be their interpretation of what it is like to be a man or a woman), then I have a little sympathy, but what I cannot accept is how a person can one day feel like a man if a woman or a woman if a man and another day revert to normal - this to me is just complete and utter nonsense.
can someone tell me what cisgender is??
I have no problem with people being genuinely transgender but it is a bit of a bandwagon, Look at me, I'm so on trend! Additionally, am I allowed to object to not being allowed to have a husband but a 'partner'? I was at the hossy and asked about my 'partner', when I said I didn't have one, I had a husband they were very sniffy. The idea of him being my partner is hilarious, to continue the DM theme, have they seen him play tennis, bridge etc.?
ah right so normal then mamy, ie everybody is "cisgender" why do we need another word for normal?
Question Author
We don't.
Who wants to be 'Normal' - different and exciting is so much more fun :-)
I like how you are asking a question that I answered already on the last page of this thread.
TBH jim this is your pet subject so I know what you are going to say so forgive me for skimming.
