Having completed puzzle I am struggling with one part of denouement. Have I made a stupid mistake or does 11a not fit in with down entries?

Geoff,
I just had help from my expert friend.
The phrase is 6,1,5. (My original was 4,1,7).

You can use one of the two letters in the cell if it works.

But you can discard the two letters in the cell and come up with a third letter that gives you valid words for both across and down answers.
