How Much Do You Tip Your Waitrose/tesco Deliveryman?

He has just been, and for an order of £100.00 I gave him a £1.00. He seemed fine with it but felt a bit mean.

I don't have groceries delivered, but if I did, I'd probably tip because they'd have to haul them up 2 flights of stairs.

We differ on this one, I'd politely tell them no 1st time, they wouldn't ask another 2-3 times, I've never had people providing a service looking for loo, if someone was carrying out work on my property that would be different, but where does one stop, next the pizza delivery guy or whatever needs the loo. Back to the OP, £1 is a pittance, you'd be better off putting those £'s in a jar, save them for Christmas and make the tip worthwhile

I wouldn't tip a supermarket delivery driver at all but always give the pizza or chinese delivery guy £2.

I know what you mean Pasta they are always relieved to find I'm on the ground floor - rare I get the same driver twice in a row but do see some familiar faces on regular occasions , all are friendly and helpful.

A takeaway tends to be an infrequent event so the odd 10% tip seems appropriate but supermarket deliveries are a regular occurrence which means the recipient will be paying hand over fist.

When people are working for more than likely 'the basic minimum wage' .. they will more than likely appreciate a little extra given in the form of a cash tip. If they have gone that bit further and put that extra bit of effort in, why not. The tip is between you and them, neither of you are going to tell the employer or anyone else it may concern.
Having spent the last few days surrounded by people who are all earning in excess of £500 per day with many of them whinging about money or the lack of it .. make someones day and chuck your driver a fiver.

I suppose they are the same but i always think the takeaway delivery man is probably in very low paid job with no benefits. I assume large supermarket drivers are on good contracts with proper T&Cs.

The Average wage for a nursery worker looking after our kids is anaverage of £7.15p per hour Tone! This is what my DiL does. She worked in a private nursery and the parents pay a fortune for child care. She looked after a room full of 2 and 3 year olds (not on her own but still a heavy responsibility)...She did she now does after school club at a private school.

Rubbish wages that, mazie. Looking after a lot of toddlers is a huge responsibility and should be payed accordingly.
A private nursery, the owner (s) are making plenty then.
