In 118 years since Labour was formed they have only had four leaders that have ever won an election and all failed because they could not run the economy. I would hardly think Jeremy Corbyn would have any chance with his plans for the country
also the sands of time are running out for him .Coming up to 69 years old and only one prime minister has ever been elected over 70 years old
TTT...yes you did...thanks for reminding me !

Happy New Year to you !

gromit; "Bleedin hell Tora, are you completely thick? well not as dense you appear to be, at 12:21 you said: "I repeat LABOUR are not moving to the centre, the centre is moving to them." - above you say the centre doesn't move, so make your mind up.
TTT,
You must be right then.

Corbyn must be taking the Labour party right wing. All your protestations over the last 2 years about Corbyn being a communist and a red and wanting to take the country back to being rule by the unions, have all now been redressed by Corbyn as he is steppinginto Blair’s shoes.

Question Author
I'm still trying to reconcile your contradictory statements gromit, the actual question is now secondary! Well if he is moving towards the centre he'll have to emulate the psuedo Tories of Blair etc but he's already known as a hard lefty so he'll fool no one.
Let’s recap.
1. You said Corbyn was moving to the right, but you didn’t believe it.
2. I said I didn’t believe it too.
3. Then, even though I was agreeing with you, you disagreed with me.
4. So I reluctantly say you must be right and that Corbyn is attempting a Blair.
5. Andypu say everyone knows hes a hard lefty and will not fool anyone.

What an utterly bonkers thread.
Question Author
just address the dichotomy in my post at 18:45 gromit.
This was you wasn't it? "I repeat LABOUR are not moving to the centre, the centre is moving to them." - I mean you did say that? didn't you?
you also said "The centre does not move, the left and right parties move closer and further away from it. " - that was you too was it not? So can you resolve that contradiction, one minute the centre is moving and the next the centre does not move. Can you not see the contradiction?
There isn't actually anything new in this: I am sure I have heard the Labour leader say this before.
The last Labour manifesto was not particularly left wing in the grand scheme of things. Arguably it was also better costed than the car crash that was the Tory one. Some of Theresa May's policies would not have looked out of place, on the other hand, in Ed Milliband's manifestos.
The Tories have become more conservative socially and arguably more left wing economically. Nothing is ever straightforward.
I believe Labour has the potential to do some disastrous things but you only need to look at what the Tories are doing know to see that Labour does not have a monopoly on "disastrous". If Lord Adonis is even half right then we are heading for the rocks, and the foreign office and the treasury are waiting to take over when Davis and Fox abandon ship.
